I hope Mr Q and I will be together after the same amount of time.

Stitched Together. I've always loved red and white - it's how my bedroom was decorated when I was a teenager, so I probably just assumed that everyone liked it the same amount as me and started cutting! I'm hoping it'll grow on him. Either that or I'll make him another quilt for his side of the bed!

Orsi, if you want to sew together thicker fabrics, you will probably need to use a wider seam allowance than the standard 7mm used with cotton patchwork fabrics. Or, as you suggest, you could use a fine fusible interfacing (the sticky lining thing). Also, with thicker fabrics, it is easier to sew larger pieces together. What do you plan to make with the finished patchwork cloth?Quiltificationhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11203946438538407782noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8166519822657089221.post-33047124643665916232012-11-07T10:07:15.378+00:002012-11-07T10:07:15.378+00:00I love the feather quilting. Though I have to ask, why didn't Mr Q say anything about his disinterest before you'd chopped into the fabric and sewed it all up?Chrissyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13254578516714017969noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8166519822657089221.post-61466246732339234952012-11-07T05:58:26.626+00:002012-11-07T05:58:26.626+00:00It looks wonderful!

It is a bold but beautiful quilt design in these colors! You have a lot of feather-stitching ahead, but it's a perfect template!

I wondered what inspired the red and white colors for a wedding quilt - then I seemed to recall that you had a 'red (burgundy?) and white' wedding, and confirmed it by finding the post with your lovely photos! I remembered that post because my own wedding was red and white - and was also at the beginning of January (the 4th) - except almost 49 years ago, which is freaking me out because to me it was yesterday! (We don't have children to remind us how old we are, but a mirror does that welll enough!)

I love the 'shrugs' your bridesmaids wore, with the fur trim! (The little gals are SO adorable!) My Maid of Honor and bridesmaid had white fur head pieces (miniature pillbox style circlets) with a red silk rose in front, and they carried white fur muffs with real red carnations attached. So you and I were on the same page, except you actually MADE all the gowns! Wow! I 'made' my veil, which consisted of adding a large circle (down to the waist) of 'fine' tulle netting to a white sequinned pillbox which had scallops on top. Jackie Kennedy had made the pillbox hat a fashion icon in the early '60s! Memories, memories!

Kathy Niklewiczhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03471658272689112787noreply@blogger.com
